Step 1

Today I laid down the framework for my first composition project. I was to write a chord progression of 12 to 16 chords of a non-tonal nature that increase in tension until 68% through, then the tension is to release. I used 17 chords, I feel that this number is necessary to have the flow of tension that I wrote. Hopefully it will be ok with my professor that I have one chord too many!

Good entry! Just a small point: The tension increase was ideally supposed to happen at the 61.8% point, which is called the "golden mean." Try Googling "golden mean" or "golden ratio" to find out more about this, if you like.
